Togetherness in a time of Distancing
Greetings! I pray everyone is staying safe and being well. While it is “the most wonderful time of the year”, many of us are struggling through added depression this Holiday season because of the inability to take part in traditional events such as traveling to see family members in other states.
We have been exiled (separated) from our loved ones and friends for close to a year. 2020 was not the first time families have been separated from each other. In Scripture, a similar situation was happening with the Israelites and the prophet Jeremiah wrote letters to the exiles in Babylon.
Jeremiah 29:10-14 reads:
The LORD proclaims: When Babylon’s seventy years are up, I will come and fulfill my gracious promise to bring you back to this place. I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the LORD; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope. When you call me and come and pray to me, I will listen to you. When you search for me, yes, search for me with all your heart, you will find me. I will be present for you, declares the LORD, and I will end your captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have scattered you, and I will bring you home after your long exile, declares the LORD.
What a word of HOPE from the Lord!!
Earlier in the chapter, the exiles are commanded by the Lord to build houses, to get marries, have children, to work and pray for blessing of their cities. I have seen a number of our extended Republican family members continue to live their lives throughout the pandemic with marriages, new babies and announcements of new job opportunities. Many of us have been involved in virtual prayer groups praying for our cities, our state and our country.
While we have tools which allow for communication and gives us the opportunity to see each other (Zoom), Google Meet and others), the proclamation from the LORD rings out during this Christmas season – the best way to have togetherness in a time of distancing is to seek for GOD because only HE will bring us back together!
HIS plans for us is for us to have a future filled with HOPE! HE listens to out prayers and when we search for HIM, HE will be there for us! Finally, the LORD will bring us all home after HE ends the captivity of this virus.
The LORD is already working a miracle. Two vaccines developed, manufactured and distributed in less than nine months! What a GOD we serve!!
Stay PRAYERFUL, Stay HOPEFUL – to our Jewish Republicans, I hope you had a Happy Hanukah; to our Christian Republicans – Merry Christmas.
To everyone, may 2021 be a time of renewal and revival!
If I can be of service, please feel free to reach out anytime.
GOD Bless You!
