Dr. Antonio (Tony) Campbell, a faculty member at Towson University filed candidacy paperwork in Annapolis today to seek the Republican nomination for the United States Senate.




Tony served his country in the United States Army as a Chaplain and received his doctorate from Liberty University Seminary.  Last summer, Tony was a featured speaker on the role of faith in suicide prevention of our veterans and military service members at the DoD/VA Conference on Suicide Prevention. 

A life-long learner Tony loves teaching because of the ability to interact from his students.  For the past three decades, Tony has taken an active role championing causes of concern to Marylanders including advocating for changes of the treatment of dogs and cats at the Baltimore County Animal Shelter.  Tony is active in a variety of local non-profit organizations such as Toys 4 Tots, The American Legion, and serves on the board of a charter school in Baltimore City.     

Tony’s civic activism includes serving on the Executive Committee of the Maryland Republican Party and the Baltimore County Charter Review Commission.  In 2012, Tony led the petition and referendum effort with Delegate Neil Parrott against partisan gerrymandering.  Currently, Tony is a member of the P-20 Leadership Council for Education, and serves on the Baltimore County School Board Nomination Commission.  Tony is the author of two books, America Today and A More Perfect Union.
